State Sen. Mark Grisanti released the following statement Wednesday regarding his re-election plans. Grisanti lost the GOP primary election last week.

"The state of politics today has become about the extremists on the left and right driving to hijack our political process. There is no doubt that historic low turnout allowed the radicals on the far right, ironically funded by the far left, to defeat me.

"But since Tuesday, I have been inundated with calls, emails and text messages by Republicans who didn't vote in the primary and by Democrats, Independents and unaffiliated voters who support me and want the opportunity to vote for me. They represent the great middle and are the majority of voters in the 60th Senate district. They want elected leaders who will solve problems, who will work across party lines, and who will continue the momentum that has Western New York on the upswing.

"I am not going to be bullied out of this race by the radicals on both the left and the right. I have been elected to the Senate twice by all the voters of this district, and I am going to let them all have a say in November on my performance."
