Assemblyman John Ceretto applauded the decision of the state Department of Environmental Conservation to extend the public comment period on the proposed expansion of the CWM landfill by 45 days to Oct. 20. Ceretto sent a letter to the DEC commissioner asking for this extension to be granted.

"I have heard from countless constituents that are deeply concerned about the proposed expansion of the CWM landfill," he said. "I share their concerns and believe a full public vetting of the expansion proposal must be done.

"The extension of the public comment period is good news for residents who want their voices to be heard. Through this process, we will better understand the impact this expansion would have on our community and be able to make a more informed decision."

To submit a public comment, residents may email [email protected] or send a letter to Chief Administrative Law Judge James T. McClymonds at the DEC Office of Hearings and Mediation Services, 625 Broadway, 1st Floor, Albany, NY 12233-5500.
