Event to feature all New York state craft beers and spirits

Local cider lovers, rejoice: BlackBird Cider Works is pleased to announce the return of the Summer Cider Festival. The fourth annual event will be Sunday, Aug. 24, from noon to 6 p.m. at BlackBird Cider Works, 8503 Lower Lake Road, Barker. Featuring a fantastic lineup of chilled draft cider and local food from Dispenza's Meat Market, the Summer Cider Festival will be a prime event in the Niagara region to wrap up the season.

In addition to cider sampling, attendees will have the opportunity to experience a guided tour through BlackBird Cider Works estate orchards, where tourgoers will learn about the apples used to craft the hard cider. These events also are open to the public, not only ticketholders.

Attendees will also be able to purchase cider, growler fills and additional hard cider tastings at the rustic tasting room, as well as food from Dispenza's Meat Market and assorted snacks from Bavarian Nut Co.

"We've been very pleased with the growth of this event in the Niagara region," said Chris Budde, marketing support and logistics specialist at BlackBird Cider Works. "Interest in artisanal cider is exploding right now, and we believe we have added some nice features and unique cider selections that will help us reach an even wider audience of cider enthusiasts."

The event will feature all craft beer and spirits from New York, including the following vendors: Community Beer Works, Woodcock Brothers Brewery, Rohrback Brewing Co., Climbing Bines, Black Button, Apple County Spirits and Finger Lakes Distilling.

This is a 21-and-older event, and IDs will be checked at the door. Tickets are available for hard cider tastings, distilled spirits tastings and craft beer tastings for $15 each. Tickets for each tasting event are sold separately or you can buy all three tasting discussions for a discounted price of $35.Tickets can be purchased at eventbrite.com/e/blackbird-cider-works-summer-cider-festival-2014-tickets-12494450237
