Niagara County Fair welcomes back 'K-9s In Flight'

Returning to the Niagara County Fair this year with a new show is "K-9s In Flight - Frisbee Dog and High Jump Show." "K-9's In Flight" is the ultimate canine sports show, offering the best in high-flying, acrobatic, wholesome family entertainment.

These dogs break the mold with their high energy, up-close and personal interactive format. All of "K-9s In Flight's" stars have been rescued or adopted from shelters all over the country. These dogs are not only incredible athletes, but they are family as well. Their entertaining show promotes and emphasizes the importance and desperate need for pet adoption.

"K-9s In Flight" is dedicated to the education and awareness of the pet overpopulation problem and committed to a solution. John Misita's "K-9s In Flight" dogs are premier K9 sports entertainers.

Thursday, July 31, is the day to visit the food tent at the Niagara County Fair if you are looking for a chicken barbecue. The event, sponsored by Cornerstone FCU, is one of the best traditions of the fair.

This chicken dinner is made with Cornell's famous sauce and prepared by agriculture committee volunteers using cookers and grills donated by the Barker Lions Club. CCE will sell chicken dinners from noon until they are sold out. The price per meal is $9, which includes a half chicken, corn on the cob, coleslaw, choice of beverage, and a dinner roll.

The Niagara County Fair also has taffy, tacos, pizza, turkey legs, sausage, hot dogs, chicken fingers and much more. Fairgoers can learn about butterflies with SkyRiver Butterfly Exhibit ($1 to enter the exhibit) and enjoy daily workshops from Air Sculpture Balloon Art and Sawdogs Chainsaw Carver.

New this year is the Agriculture Discovery Zone. This large, multi-faceted exhibit will feature interactive activities that will connect the dots for adults and children alike and provide a greater understanding of agriculture and where food comes from.

When you visit the Niagara County Fair, you are supporting the families, children, farmers and communities of Niagara County. Net proceeds from the fair support CCE-Niagara County programming, which benefits children and families in Niagara County.

The 2014 Niagara County Fair will run from July 30 to Aug. 3 at 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport (south of Wrights Corners).
