Town of Niagara Police Blotter for June 26, 2014

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between June 11 and 23.

Wednesday, June 11

•Vandalism, 6100 block of Grauer Road. Complainant reported side of house was egged.

•Warrant, Munson Avenue. Patrol executed a town bench warrant for failure to pay a $421 fine by a 54-year old woman.

Thursday, June 12

•Drug charge, Porter Road. Patrol stopped a vehicle for a driver failing to wear his seatbelt. The Cedar Avenue man was arrested after it was found his license was suspended for eight scofflaws on five different dates and more than 25 grams of suspected marijuana was found.

•Suspicious person, Woodside Place. Caller reported a man going door-to-door trying to sell items. The man told patrol he was trying to sell a pair of sneakers to make some extra money, but did not have the sneakers with him.

•Larceny, 1900 block of Military Road. Store staff stated a female left her wallet behind and after checking the store video to locate her, observed her assisting in a shoplifting incident. The female returned for her wallet and was banned from the mall for six months.

Friday, June 13

•Noise complaint, Panama Street and at St. Paul Street. Patrols checked on several calls about gunshots or fireworks being heard. Nothing found.

•Juvenile problem Tindal Drive and Tuscarora Road. Report of six to eight juveniles walking around causing trouble. Nothing found.

Saturday, June 14

•Accident, I-190. Car-deer accident.

•Suspicious message. Mother reported seeing a post on her son's Facebook page from another youth talking about a shooting at Niagara-Wheatfield. Patrol attempted to find the youth and notified school officials.

•Unlocked door, Hickory Lane. Complainant said a real estate agent left a residence door unlocked for a week. Patrols searched the house for suspicious activity. Nothing found.

Sunday, June 15

•Neighbor problem, 8100 block of Britton Drive East. Complainant reported being struck by a pellet gun shot by a neighbor. Patrol interviewed the supposed shooter who was apologetic and said he was shooting cans with his son. Complainant also had to be advised after he threatened to get his own pellet gun.

•DWI, I-190 at Witmer Road. A Buffalo woman was arrested for driving south in the northbound lane and almost striking another vehicle. She failed sobriety tests and marijuana also was found in the vehicle.

Monday, June 16

•Larceny, 4400 block of Liberty Avenue. Complainant reported someone entered his unlocked car in his driveway and took items valued at more than $900, including $100 cash, pills and an $800 quadcopter.

•Check situation, 1900 block of Military Road. A Toronto woman reported that while getting into her vehicle at the mall she saw a male sitting in another vehicle unclothed from the waist down.

Tuesday, June 17

•Burglary, 6500 block of Woodside Place. Complainant reported someone attempted entry into her residence while she was away from home for a short period. Doorframe was damaged.

•Shoplifting, 1700 block of Military Road. Store manager reported two women and one man entered the store and concealed and took 12 wristlets valued at $75 each.

•Mental health, Portland Avenue. Intoxicated male called 911 and reported hearing voices. Transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center by Rural Metro Ambulance.

Wednesday, June 18

•Property damage, 8000 block of Colonial Drive. Complainant reported someone ran over mailbox.

•Juvenile problem, 6200 block of South Whitham Drive. Complainant reported someone rang the doorbell and fled.

Thursday, June 19

•Assist citizen, 4700 block of Tuscarora Road. Parent accidentally locked a baby in a running vehicle while getting the mail.

•Burglary, 3200 block of Bellreng Drive. Resident reported someone came in through an unlocked window and took $12 from her wallet while she ran out to get a movie.

Friday, June 20

•Larceny, 7900 block of East Britton Drive. Complainant reported that sometime overnight, someone stole the outdrive for his boat that was parked in his back yard.

•Larceny, 1400 block of Tuscarora Road. Complainant reported that sometime overnight someone stole from his vehicle parked in his driveway items valued at $5,650, including a machine tool computer control box, sports equipment, jumper box and compressor and the floor mats.

Saturday, June 21

•Suspicious persons, 7300 block of Greenview Road. Complainant reported he overheard about 12 youths near his driveway talking about breaking into a car. He chased them toward Miller Road, but said he lost them in area yards.

•Shoplifting, 2500 block of Military Road. Patrol stopped a vehicle at Creek Road and Washington Drive containing two women who were suspected in a shoplifting incident. The 28-year-old women, one from 80th Street and the other from Oriole Lane were arrested for taking $125 worth of clothing.

•Robbery, 1900 block of Military Road. Store manager said he was robbed of $1,498.31 while walking to the bank to make a deposit.

Sunday, June 22

•Juvenile disturbance, 4400 block of Military Road. Patrol responded to a 911 call from a complainant who was trying to get a youth who was drinking with his stepdaughter to leave. Suspect was yelling and became combative and belligerent, slamming things on the hood of the patrol car. The17-year-old Grauer Road resident was arrested and the nine beers, pellet gun and baggy of marijuana found in his backpack were confiscated.

•Check situation, Tuscarora and Porter roads. Patrol observed a strong odor of natural gas in the area of Porter Road, from Tuscarora to 98th Street. Niagara Active Hose and National Fuel responded for further investigation.

Monday, June 23

•Missing person, 1900 block of Military Road. Patrol helped search the mall for a missing Toronto man who has dementia. He walked away from his brother in a store. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office put out a Silver Alert. After about two hours he was found sitting on a woman's back deck in the 8700 block of Point Avenue.

•ATV complaint, John Street. Patrol investigated an ATV complaint in the area of John Street and Creekside Parkway; negative results.
