The Ransomville Free Concert Series, hosted by the Ransomville Business & Professional Association, Town of Porter and Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, will start at a new time (6:30 p.m.) Tuesday, June 24. The popular summer event is held every Tuesday at the William J. McLaughlin Free Library Gazebo at 3733 Ransomville Road. It is sponsored by CWM Chemical Services.

The nine-week music series was traditionally held between 7 and 9 p.m., but with the addition of the Ransomville Car Cruisers setting up at 6 p.m., having the music start at 6:30 p.m. just made sense to organizers.

"Starting the series a half-hour earlier will enable listeners to enjoy the classic cars and listen to music before it gets dark," said Jennifer Pauly, president of the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce. She assists in coordinating the music. "We found that, as the series progressed into August and the evenings getting dark earlier, moving the music up a half hour will encourage more people to stay until the end."

The concert listings for 2014 are as follows:

  • June 24: WhaTheFolk
  • July 1: Penelope
  • July 8: Joe and the Shmoes
  • July 15: Critical Mass
  • July 22: The Tower
  • July 29: Now and Then
  • Aug. 5: The Roadrunners
  • Aug. 12: The Instigators
  • Aug. 19: Stevie Fleck Band

The concert series is free. Patrons are encouraged to bring a chair to listen to the music. Concessions are available, with proceeds going to the Ransomville Car Cruisers and the Ransomville Historical Room, which is open for visitors during all of the concerts.

Concerts are rain or shine. For more information on the concert series, call the chamber at 716-754-9500.
