Family & Children's Service of Niagara announces 2014 award recipients

Celebrating 119 years of continuous service to the community, Family & Children's Service of Niagara will present several awards at its annual luncheon meeting Wednesday, June 11, at the Niagara Falls Country Club, 505 Mountain View Drive, Lewiston. The event begins at noon.

Special recognition and awards will be presented to the following individuals and organizations:

C. Douglas Hartmayer will receive the E. Marie Davis Volunteer Service Award. Hartmayer, the director of public affairs for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, has served on the board of directors for 11 years and as the chair of the agency advancement committee since 2007.

Kari Ann D'Amico will receive the Staff Leadership Award. D'Amico, a resident of Niagara Falls who has been with the agency since 2001, currently serves as the program assistant in the care management program.

Jahon Drake will receive the Courage to Change Award, which is presented to client who has faced challenges, overcome obstacles and developed a positive outlook on life.

The Isaiah 61 Project will receive the Kozak Community Service Award. Named after Gerald J. Kozak, the former president of Family & Children's Service, this award is given to an individual or group in recognition of innovative leadership and a commitment to improving the lives of children, adults and families in the community.

The Peter & Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation will received the Legacy Builder Award in recognition of its support of the nonprofit community in the areas of technology and capacity building.

The annual luncheon and awards ceremony is open to the public. The cost to attend is $35 per person. For reservations, call 716-285-6984 by Tuesday, June 3.
