Over the past year, the Buffalo Niagara Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and WKBW-TV have showcased successful local women who give back through their volunteer efforts. This marks the third year they've honored these "unsung heroines" in the community.

Each month, honorees have been profiled on WKBW-TV and interviewed on "AM Buffalo." They will be recognized at a luncheon hosted by Channel 7 news anchor Joanna Pasceri Tuesday, June 3, at the Twentieth Century Club in Buffalo.

Women In Leadership honorees are Western New York working women, professionals, and women business owners who exhibit leadership, enterprise and excellence in their profession, while giving back to the community through their volunteer service. These women help inspire others to follow in their path.

The 2013-14 Women in Leadership are Laurie Albertsson, vice president at Fernwood Capital & Leasing, North Tonawanda; Sharon K. Brown, owner of Brown Electric Inc., Pendleton; Molly Short Carr, executive director of Journey's End Refugee Services, Buffalo; Jody Chesko, president of Niagara Produce Inc., Lockport; Janeen Cole, owner of Hoffman School of Dance, East Aurora; Sue Ellen Elvers, owner of Ingersoll Painting & Construction, Buffalo; Dr. Donna Azam Feldman of Women's Medicine of Niagara, Niagara Falls; Denise Gueli, partner at the Bonadio Group, Buffalo; Elizabeth B. Harned Esq., director of community engagement at Planned Parenthood of Western New York, Buffalo; Gwen Mysiak, executive director of Brian Moorman's P.U.N.T. Foundation, Orchard Park; Stephanie J. Simeon, executive director of Heart of the City Neighborhoods, Buffalo; and Jessica Bauer Walker, executive director of Community Health Worker Network of Buffalo.

Founded in 1994, NAWBO Buffalo Niagara is an organization for the region's diverse range of women-owned businesses that aspire to accomplish growth and education, and make connections. The chapter will celebrate its 20th year of supporting and nurturing women entrepreneurs this fall.
