The official numbers from the Youngstown Village elections trustee and mayoral races are in. Raleigh Reynolds succeeded in winning his first full term as mayor, with 328 votes, 72 more than Republican mayoral nominee Norman Swann.

Democratic trustee nominee Stuart Comerford, a newcomer, received 291 votes, and Republican trustee Timothy Adamson returned to the board with 319 votes. The two won the election over Democratic trustee incumbent Beverley Van Deusen, with 286 votes, and Republican trustee nominee Wilfred Ziegler, with 245 votes.

Duffy Johnston, chairman of the Town of Porter/Village of Youngstown Republican Party, said the elections did not go as he expected. "I thought the people wanted a change and apparently they didn't," Johnston said.

Due to mechanical issues, there was a delay Tuesday in the release of the final voting results for the election. The polling dilemma made the close race controversial as tabulations were counted.

Van Deusen, 2010-14 village trustee, offered her congratulations to Mayor Reynolds as well as Comerford and Adamson on their victories to the Youngstown Village Board.

"Although I did not succeed in my bid for re-election as trustee I am gratified in the knowledge that the village will continue to grow, prosper, and remain a beautiful place to live under the able guidance of these three gentlemen, along with the rest of the current board," Van Deusen said. "I truly enjoyed my term as trustee and wish to thank everyone that supported me in my campaign."

Returning trustee Adamson spoke highly for the future of the village with the new officials from both parties.

"I look forward to improving the quality of life up in Youngstown." Adamson said. "I'd like to see the businesses become enhanced, to be able to have good business services right in the Village of Youngstown."
