Area law enforcement agencies are continuing their search for a Lewiston resident who was reportedly fishing in a boat in Lake Ontario Wednesday and failed to return.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, John Supple, 60, was last seen northeast of the Wilson pier on Lake Ontario. He was in a 16-foot-long camouflage Starcraft boat fishing near Wilson Tuscarora State Park, around 3 p.m. on May 14.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Coast Guard, New York State Park Police, Wilson Fire Co., Olcott Fire Co. and Canadian authorities are actively looking for Supple.

Undersheriff Mike Filicetti of the Niagara County Sheriff's Office urges local residents to keep searching.

"We don't want to make the assumption that he is in the water, or whatever, when he could be out." Filicetti said. "We're going to continue the search on until weather or darkness hinders it, so we can't continue."

Anyone with information regarding Supple or his boat's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Niagara County Sheriff's Office at 716-438-3393.
