Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village's popular "German Sommerfest" returns on June 21, highlighting several family activities scheduled throughout the month. BNHV is located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst.

Taking place from noon to 6 p.m. BNHV's "German Sommerfest" features a VW Bug car show, authentic German beer and cuisine provided by Scharf's Restaurant and CRāVing Catering, music by the German American Musicians and the WNY Alphorn Society, and much more. Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for members, while kids 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

BNHV will hold its 26th annual lace guild seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 7, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 8. Lectures, classes and vendors are among the highlight. Visit www.bnhv.org/events/lace-guild-seminar for details.

The next "Museum After Hours" event, held until 9 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month, will take place June 19. This event is free to Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village members and just $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students.

Rounding out the busy month, BNHV will host a "Behind the Scenes Historic Preservation Tour" from 1 to 3 p.m. June 28. Special guest lecturer and architectural historian Andrea Rebeck will guide participants through several historic buildings on the museum's grounds and discuss preservation philosophy, all while sharing stories about how the buildings were moved to BNHV and what was discovered during her investigations and subsequent work on them.

This tour will also include a look inside BNHV's state-of-the-art collections' storage building. The tour will take approximately 90 minutes to complete and is limited to 25 people. Reservations are required in advance, and tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Call 716-689-1440 to reserve a spot.
