Tourism leaders to meet for roundtable discussion

More than 100 registered to attend event

Tourism industry leaders are meeting with state and local elected officials Friday, April 25, to talk about important issues pertaining to the tourism industry. Antonio's at the Quality Inn, Niagara Hotel & Conference Center (7708 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls) is hosting the event from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

The purpose of the roundtable discussion - sponsored by the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association, Visit Buffalo Niagara and the Niagara Tourism & Convention Corp. - is to advance the hospitality industry's local and statewide legislative agendas.

Speakers for the event include:

  • Patrick Kaler - president and CEO, Visit Buffalo Niagara
  • John Percy - president and CEO, NTCC
  • Jan Marie Chesterton - president, New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association

Issues on the agenda include:

  • Reauthorize the Travel Promotion Act in 2014 and preserve Brand USA's funding model
  • Support of JOLT Act
  • Great Lakes harbor dredging
  • New sporting license fee reduction
  • Effective tourism marketing and promotion programs
  • Regional Economic Development Council grants
  • Regulatory relief for state businesses

The New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association is a not-for-profit trade organization representing 1,300 member businesses and individuals in the lodging and attractions industry. NYSH&TA's mission is to provide a strong voice for the New York state hospitality and tourism industry, and to protect and enhance the financial welfare of the industry.
