Community Missions to host "Walk for Niagara"

Community Missions Inc. will host its annual "Walk for Niagara" (formerly "Feet or Famine") on Saturday, May 3, at Whirlpool State Park. Rain or shine, the event aims to raise awareness and funds for the agency's crisis services programs, which include the community soup kitchen, food pantry, clothing closet, and emergency housing shelter.

Walkers are asked to collect pledges in support of their participation and can walk as an individual, student team, or business team. Teams must contain at least five walkers. Pledge sheets, along with all collected donations, are then turned in at check-in the morning of the walk. Pre-walk coffee and donuts will be provided by Tim Hortons, followed by post-walk hot dogs, activities and a 50/50 raffle.

Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by the 2-mile walk at 11:15 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to those who raise more than $100, as well as to the top individuals and teams that collect the most dollars in pledges.

Blackwinds Pet Supplies will be on site, so don't forget to bring your four-legged friends. This year's event sponsors and supporters include Blackwinds, UnitedHealthcare, LocalEdge, Coldwell Banker, Whirlpool State Park, The Catering Crew and Sammy's Pizzeria.
