It is with great excitement that I announce my intention to run for the position of Lewiston town clerk.

My name is Regina Scibilia Cecconi. I have been an active member of the Lewiston-Porter community since 1991. I am a recent magna cum laude graduate of Niagara University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and have completed my Masters Certificate in human resource management through Villanova University. After additional months of study, this past January I accomplished my biggest professional goal and earned my PHR (professional human resource) certification.

In addition to raising my family, completing my personal educational goals and working, I have always found the time to volunteer in the community. For many years, I volunteered for the Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles youth hockey organization as a team manager, travel secretary, travel president and tournament coordinator. I was and still am a proud hockey mom. I have also enjoyed fundraising for various causes, and am always willing to lend a hand wherever needed.

My children, Carissa, 19, and Joseph, 16, have attended Lewiston-Porter schools, participated in local sports and activities, and work in the community. My daughter, Carissa, works in the Village of Lewiston, and my son, Joseph, was longtime Niagara Gazette paperboy before leaving to follow his hockey dream in Muskegon, Mich. I am pleased that they have been able to experience all that this community has had to offer.

It is because I appreciate this community and care about its future that I have decided to run for the position of Lewiston town clerk. I believe this position would allow me to utilize my human resource, interpersonal and communication skills, along with my managerial experience to its fullest potential.

As you are aware, there has been much scandal and discord in Lewiston among some elected officials. Lewiston deserves someone who is not a member of the establishment that has generated embarrassing headline after headline. Lewiston deserves someone who can provide a fresh start, with fresh ideas. I am that person.

As I researched the position, and its responsibilities, I took notice to items that the community would benefit from if improvements were able to be implemented. For instance, the Lewiston town clerk website is difficult to read and cumbersome to navigate. I believe that by enhancing Web and online services, our taxpayers will be able to use the website to conduct their business quickly and efficiently, saving them time and unnecessary frustration.

As an outsider, I see details that may otherwise go unseen by the current administration. For example, I would like to see extended office hours implemented on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. These additional hours will give our taxpayers better accessibility to conduct their town business.

I have also been researching additional services that the town clerk's office could provide while initiating new revenue opportunities. All these initiatives combined will result in an overall improved customer experience.

I encourage you to visit my LinkedIn profile for a complete review of my professional experience, qualifications, memberships and educational accomplishments. You are also invited to check out and interact with me on my Facebook page, "Cecconi for Clerk."

I look forward to embarking on this endeavor, personally speaking to the community, and earning your vote in the September primary election.
