The 450-mile long Niagara Escarpment has been designated as a World Biosphere Preserve in Canada, but is just beginning to get some attention in the U.S. In 2013, a Niagara River Greenway grant was acquired by the Western New York Land Conservancy to study the Escarpment in Niagara County. One of the components of that study was to document the early history and culture of the inhabitants who lived along the escarpment corridor.

The Land Conservancy reached out to The History Center of Niagara for submissions about the escarpment for the study. Nona McQuay and Ann Marie Linnabery will present their findings to the public Sunday, April 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Bond Lake Park in Ransomville.

The presentation is a free event sponsored by the Bond Lake Environmental and Beautification Committee. It will be in the Nature Center located in the Warming House at 2571 Lower Mountain Road.

For more, contact McQuay at 716-434-5052.
