David Karwick of Key Investment Services has received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Town of Niagara Business and Professional Association, honoring him for his dedication to volunteer service.

"There's nothing more satisfying than giving back to the community, making it a better place and helping those in need," said Karwick, accepting the award and crediting KeyBank for encouraging community commitment and volunteerism in its employees.

"We take pride in the many contributions our dedicated employees make in volunteering their time, energies and expertise to improving the communities we serve," said Gary Quenneville, president, Western New York Region, KeyBank. "David Karwick's Citizen of the Year Award honors his individual achievements, and he exemplifies the spirit of community involvement that Key encourages everyone to demonstrate."

A KeyBank employee since 1989 and a Class of 2000 graduate of Leadership Niagara, Karwick volunteers with the Niagara-Wheatfield and Lewiston Kiwanis, the Town of Niagara Business and Professional Association Parade Committee, the Niagara Community College Foundation, Leadership Niagara, the Niagara Falls Habitat for Humanity, and the Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Foundation. He serves several of these groups as a board member and committeeman, but he also volunteers in such front-line positions as directing parade traffic and celebrity bartender.

"We are inspired by David's excellent example of community service," Quenneville said, "and proud that our colleague has received this well-deserved honor."
