On Saturday, Feb. 22, the Queen City Roller Girls will host a double header. The Lake Effect Furies' travel team makes its 2014 debut, followed by the Devil Dollies and the Alley Kats taking the track.

The Lake Effect Furies take on Suburbia Roller Derby of Westchester County in their first bout of the 2014 season. Following that, the Alley Kats and the Devil Dollies play their second bout of the season.

The Lake Effect Furies are coming off of their most successful season yet, making the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Division 2 playoffs for the first time last August. They enter Saturday's bout ranked 48th in the world. They play Suburbia Roller Derby (ranked 58th) in the first of three Division 2 playoff rematches this season.

Both the Kats and the Dollies will then look to rebound from losses in their 2014 debut bouts, falling to the Suicidal Saucies and the Nickel City Knockouts, respectively. At halftime, six lucky fans to will have the opportunity to participate in a tricycle race around the track in a bid to win tickets to a future QCRG bout.

A portion of the proceeds from the bout will benefit Girls on the Run, which works in the area to help develop healthy living education for girls in the third through eighth grades.

The Queen City Roller Girls are excited to be joined Saturday by members of PTSD Survivors of America, who work to support survivors and promote awareness of all forms of post-traumatic stress disorder, regardless of trauma causation. PTSD Survivors of America is a veteran-founded, national 501(c) 3 nonprofit, which was founded in 2011.

Bouts will take place at Rainbow Roller Rink 101 Oliver St., North Tonawanda. Doors open at 6 p.m. The first bout starts at 6:30 p.m., and the second at 8:45 p.m. Tickets are $20 for front row access, $15 general admission, and $10 for children ages 12 and under. Advance tickets for all bouts can be purchased at http://www.qcrg.net/tickets.
