Buffalo Realtor James Knight appointed NYSAR Western Region vice president

Buffalo's James Knight, ITI, took the oath of office Feb. 10 as the 2014 Western Region vice president of the New York State Association of REALTORS during the association's inauguration ceremony. The event was held in conjunction with business meetings at The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany. Knight, licensed for 29 years and a Realtor for 26, is an associate broker with RealtyUSA in Buffalo.

Knight is a member of the Buffalo-Niagara Association of REALTORS, where he served as the association's 2008 president, and has served on or chaired numerous committees, including public affairs, bylaws and professional standards. He is a past president of the Western New York Chapter of the New York State Commercial Association of REALTORS, where he previously served on the board of directors. He is also a certified appraisal instructor.

At the state level, Knight chaired the organizational standards committee and has served on numerous committees and forums, including issues mobilization and professional standards. He is the current vice chair of the appraisal committee and serves on the NYSAR board of directors.

He served as a National Association of REALTORS director in 2008.

Active in his community, Knight is a member of the "Corporate Compassion Round Table," which meets with the Buffalo City Mission to discuss opportunities to better meet the unique needs of homeless men, women and children. Knight is also active with Habitat for Humanity and various civic and professional groups.

The New York State Association of REALTORS is a not-for-profit trade organization representing more than 47,000 of New York state's real estate professionals. The term "Realtor" is a registered trademark, which identifies real estate professionals who subscribe to a strict code of ethics as members of the National Association of REALTORS. These Realtors are also members of the New York State Association of REALTORS as well as their local board or association of Realtors.
