"Shaw Festival 2014 Season Preview" to air Friday, Feb. 21

WNED-TV takes an inside look at the Shaw Festival's upcoming season in "Shaw Festival 2014 Season Preview" airing Friday, Feb. 21, at 9:30 p.m. Anthony Chase, co-host of WBFO's "Theatre Talk," sits down with the Shaw Festival's artistic director, Jackie Maxwell, and executive director, Elaine Calder, for a preview of the 2014 season's playbill of 10 productions.

Inspired by the acclaimed dramatist, critic and social reformer, Bernard Shaw, the Shaw Festival is a contemporary theater that entertains audiences and supporters far beyond their home in picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, every year with a talented acting ensemble and production company.

The 2014 season is no exception.

"We are thrilled to be once again collaborating with WNED-TV," Maxwell said. "It is a pleasure to give their viewers, many of whom are also strong Shaw Festival supporters, a preview of our upcoming 2014 season playbill - one which I feel is so full of interesting new worlds for people to visit."

"The Shaw Festival: Behind the Curtain" will air afterward on WNED-TV at 10 p.m. The film offers viewers a glimpse into the behind-the-stage workings of the internationally acclaimed theater.

"Both programs continue WNED-TV's commitment to present the rich history and culture of the Western New York and Southern Ontario region," said Donald K. Boswell, WNED ǀ WBFO president and CEO. "The Shaw Theatre Festival is one of the most respected repertory theaters in the world, and we are thrilled that the festival opened their doors to our production team."

"The Shaw Festival: Behind the Curtain" originally aired nationally on PBS on July 19, 2013.

The John R. Oishei Foundation, Rogers Documentary Fund, and Rogers Cable Network Fund provide funding for both programs.
