The Niagara Military Affairs Council recently recognized nine regional leaders for successful completion of the organization's Niagara Commanders program. The graduation ceremony was held Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Protocol on Transit Road in Williamsville.

Program participants included: Richard "Jay" Anderson, US Navy (Reserves); Bill Angus from Assemblyman John Ceretto's office; Jennifer Cooper, Cooper Sign and Old Glory Flag; Andrea Costantino, University at Buffalo; Dan Ryan, University at Buffalo; Cheryl Samilio-Meyer, Buffalo Executives Association; Dale Snyder, Seneca Gaming Corp.; Bill Wagner, Wagner Management; and Robert Welch, North Tonawanda mayor's office

Niagara Commanders participants completed a six-month program that included an arrangement of retreats, seminars and tours of regional military installations. They participated in activities that provided an intellectual and practical understanding and exchange of leadership perspectives, military leadership, organizational development, national defense, on briefings and mission, customs and traditions of the military.

"We are proud to recognize these nine individuals who, through their participation in our 2013 Niagara Commanders program, were able to build a greater appreciation of our military and the ongoing work of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station," said John Cooper, NIMAC chairman. "We look forward to inviting others to enjoy this same experience, and encourage leaders in business, education, government and nonprofit organizations to consider applying for our 2014 program."

If interested in applying for the 2014 Niagara Commanders program, call NIMAC at 716-283-4008 or email [email protected]. The deadline to apply is March 31.
