The Niagara River Greenway Commission has announced its vote on project consistency for the 37th round of projects submitted.

Projects were submitted Nov. 19, and the votes were taken Jan. 22 during the regularly scheduled meeting of the commission. The subjective evaluation of projects was based on the principals, goals and criteria that define the Niagara River Greenway Plan.

The following project sponsors and respective projects were determined consistent:

•Buffalo Audubon Society-Niagara River Birding Trail Site and Bird Habitat Enhancements at Buckhorn State Park and North Tonawanda Audubon Preserve;

•The Historical Society of the Tonawandas Inc.-Niagara River and Erie Canal Signage Expansion Project; and

•Town of Lewiston-Pletcher Road Park Restoration.

The following projects were determined "lost vote":

•Town of Lewiston-Sanborn Park Restoration; and

•Town of Lewiston-Colonial Village Park Restoration.

Now that the Niagara River Greenway Commission has issued a finding of consistency with the Niagara River Greenway Plan, project sponsors are responsible for funding arrangements. Funding requests can be made through conventional grant and endowment sources, as well as the various Greenway standing committees.

The 38th round of project determinations will be made March 18. Those projects will be on the Greenway website Tuesday, Jan. 28. Public comment on those projects will be accepted until Feb. 28, and may be submitted at the website, www.niagaragreenway.org, or by mail to Niagara River Greenway, 2136 West Oakfield Road, Grand Island, NY 14072.

All projects and submission dates for future determinations are also available on the website.
