Buffalo Junior Sabres organization releases details for 2014-15 season

The Buffalo Junior Sabres youth organization today announced details for the upcoming season, including team coaches, tryout dates and player fees. The organization also announced additions to its website, buffalojuniorsabres.com, which has been expanded and re-launched.

The head coaches for the 2014-15 season are:

Pee Wee Minor: Scott Rutherford

Pee Wee Major: Mark Mobus

Bantam Minor: Jacob Brozyna

Bantam Major: Michael Peca

16u: Joe Marszalek

18u: Jamie Bird

Tryout dates for the individual teams are as follows:

Pee Wee Minor and Major

Monday, March 10, First Niagara Center. Times TBD.

Bantam Minor and Major

Monday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 8, Northtown Center Olympic Rink. Times TBD,

16u and 18u

Monday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 8, Northtown Center Olympic Rink. Times TBD

The Buffalo Junior Sabres Pee Wee and Bantamteams will be USA Hockey sanctioned, and will play a high-level, independent schedule. Players will receive approximately 115 hours of ice time each year, weekly dry land training, weekly on-ice skill development, and access to the HARBORCENTER Academy of Hockey facilities and personnel. The two teams will also compete in the New York state tournament beginning in the 2014-2015 season.

Player fees for the teams will be:

Pee Wee Minor and Major: $2,500

Bantam Minor and Major: $3,000

The Junior Sabres 16uand 18u teams will compete in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League, the premier amateur hockey league in the U.S. They will be the only Tier 1 Elite League franchise in the Western New York area during the 2014-15 season. Players on these teams will receive approximately 150 hours of ice time, as well as weekly dry land training, weekly on-ice skill development, and access to the HARBORCENTER Academy of Hockey facilities and personnel. The two teams will also compete in the New York state tournament beginning in the 2014-15 season.

Player fees will be:

16u: $4,500

18u: $5,500

The Buffalo Junior Sabres Youth Organization will begin play during the 2014-15 season at HARBORCENTER, a one-of-a-kind sports and entertainment complex connected to First Niagara Center. The organization is heavily committed to the growth and development of youth hockey players. Together with HARBORCENTER, the Buffalo Junior Sabres youth organization will offer world-class coaching, facilities, training and education to give athletes the necessary tools to become successful individuals and leaders, both on and off the ice.
