Cult favorite band takes the stage on June 7

Rachmaninoff will be replaced by "Rock Lobster" when The B-52s perform with the BPO on June 7.

The B-52s have been said to be the world's greatest party band. Thirty-six years and more than 20 million albums into the band's career, its unforgettable dance-rock tunes still start a party every time the music begins. The band makes its Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra debut on Wednesday, June 7.

Named after a southern slang term for their signature bouffant hairdos, The B-52s became an alternative-rock favorite, a fixture at CBGBs, and a staple of MTV's early years. 1989's "Cosmic Thing" album saw them break through to the mainstream, with party anthems "Love Shack" and "Roam."

In 2015, the band launched a new chapter in its career, performing with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. The experience inspired The B-52s to develop a symphony show, which they debuted at the Nashville Symphony earlier this year, and then took it to Tanglewood with the Boston Pops.

Tickets for The B-52s with the BPO go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Oct. 15. To purchase tickets, visit bpo.org or call 716-885-5000.
