The Hon. and Mrs. John LaFalce are serving as honorary chairs for the Castellani Art Museum's 12th annual gala, "Illumination!" The event is 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the museum on the campus of Niagara University.

The annual event, which features silent and live auctions, cocktails and dinner, is the museum's major fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting art education programs for people of all ages.

"Our school tours, family workshops, and especially our 'kids 'n arts' summer camp, enrich the lives of thousands throughout our community each year," said CAM Director Kate Koperski. The museum also provides hands-on workshops and a film/lecture series for lifelong learners.

Tickets are $150 per person or $175 per patron, which includes a listing in the program book. For more information, call Susan Clements at 716-286-8201. For the first time this year, one may reserve online at www.castellaniartmuseum.org.

This year's live auction features original art, fine wine and travel packages. A 15-liter bottle of Taittinger Brut La Francaise champagne headlines the auction, as well as artwork by featured artist Dale Threlkeld, who will be the museum's honored guest that evening. Travel packages include a Napa Valley epicurean experience, Wrigley Field rooftop experience and a $1,000 shopping spree at a Bloomingdales anywhere in the U.S. All packages include airfare for two and hotel accommodations. A piece by southwestern artist Michael Kessler rounds out the live auction.

This year's auctioneer is Christopher Blake, executive director of Music Niagara in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

In addition to the live and silent auctions, a ladies diamond Movado watch donated by Firth Jewelers will be raffled.

The museum has an online auction preceding the gala, which is open to all. The spotlight item is a set of two silver gelatin prints by renowned artist/photographer Cindy Sherman. Bidding is open through Oct. 17 at http://www.32auctions.com/CAM14. Proceeds from the online auction also benefit the CAM's art education programs.

Robert Bloom is chair of this year's gala committee, which also includes Nancy Southwood Burns, Carla Castellani, Anne Marie DiMino-Hepfer, Susan Geissler, Rose Gellman, Ellen Joseph, Genevieve Montante and Fay Northrop.
