Local and state government officials join NIMAC delegation advocate for Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station

A delegation of officials from the Niagara Military Affairs Council visited Washington, D.C., July 22-23 to meet with some of the top leaders from the U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense and New York Congressional Delegation to advocate on behalf of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.

"These meetings provide us with valuable opportunities to speak with decision-makers in the Pentagon about the present and future status of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station," said John Cooper, NIMAC chairman. "This information better enables us to advocate, with the help of our Congressional delegation, for preservation and expansion of the base's vital functions, both as a strategic security asset for our nation, and also as a critical economic catalyst for our region and state."

Among the NIMAC officials who made the trip to Washington included Cooper, Maj. Gen. Jim Kwiatkowski (USAF, retired), Col. Thomas Keough (USAF, retired), Col. Richard Muscatello (USAF, retired), Kimberly Minkel (executive director of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority), and Carl Calabrese of Masiello, Martucci, Calabrese & Associates.

On Wednesday, the group met with the offices of U.S. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand, and U.S. Representatives Brian Higgins and Chris Collins.

NIMAC is a nonprofit organization that works to support the growth and prosperity of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and its personnel, creating a positive economic impact on the Western New York Community.

Founded in 1996 as a result of the 1995 Base Realignment and Closure Commission, NIMAC continues to support and promote capital investment by the federal government in the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station by increasing the NFARS visibility and calling attention to its attributes among key Department of Defense, Congressional and military leaders.

NIMAC is an apolitical and Hatch Act-compliant organization, allowing free communication between NIMAC and military leadership. For more information, visit www.NIMAC.org.
