Town of Niagara Police Blotter for March 13, 2014

The following is a sampling of the 94 calls answered by Town of Niagara Police between Feb. 28 and March 5.

Friday, Feb. 28

•Traffic tickets, Porter Road, Military Road. Patrol ticketed four drivers for expired inspection stickers dating back to April, October and December 2013 and January 2014.

•Identity theft, B Street. Complainant said she received a letter from American Express about a savings account opened with her social security number. She also said that she had been claimed on an unknown person's taxes. She said that she used to live with a man who committed similar frauds.

•Aid assist, 2000 block of River Road. Patrol assisted State Police with an armed robbery at a business.

Saturday, March 1

•Traffic stop, Hyde Park Boulevard and Lafayette Ave. Patrol arrested a 21-year old male after smelling marijuana and observing a blunt during a traffic stop. Three bags of suspected marijuana and about $1,500 in cash were found.

•Shoplifting, 1900 block of Military Road. A 35-year-old Rochester woman was arrested for taking two pairs of jeans valued at $149.99 and four T-shirts valued at $8.49 from a business. The suspect asked for her purse and patrol found a screwdriver and pieces of foil inside. When asked if the foil was for drugs, she said "No! You know what that's for; that's to cover the sensors up."

•Disorderly conduct, 1900 block of Military Road. A 16-year-old Packard Court youth was charged with disorderly conduct, after he wouldn't cooperate with patrol clearing a large group of kids who were being loud and using profanity in the mall and causing numerous complaints.

Sunday, March 2

•Check situation, 4900 block of Saunders Settlement Road. Patrols responded to a harassment complaint where a highly intoxicated male stated another man punched him in the face. Witnesses said the complainant was actually the aggressor and had asked the suspect to go outside and fight.

•Domestic, 2500 block of Military Road. Patrol responded to a call on an argument in a business parking lot. Woman said her husband pulled her hair and punched the side of her head, but she refused charges. She was issued a victim's crime form and advised how to follow through if she changed her mind.

Monday, March 3

•Assist fire department, 2400 block of Military Road. Employees of a business said they were feeling the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning. Niagara Active Hose Fire Co. and National Fuel responded. Niagara Active recorded a zero reading. Seven employees complained of illness, but all signed off on medical attention.

•Shoplifting, 1500 block of Military Road. A Ward Road man was arrested for taking $345.10 in groceries and beer from a business.

Tuesday, March 4

•False alarm, 700 block of Sunnyside Drive. Alarm at residence, possibly set off by dogs. Alarms at residence have been frequent in past months.

Wednesday, March 5

•Animal complaint, 3800 block of Portland Ave. Patrol checked a report of three dogs left in an abandoned house. No answer at the house, but lights were on and a vehicle in the driveway. Dogs were observed through a window and appeared OK.
