In celebration of Palm Sunday last weekend at First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, a live donkey led off services, recalling how Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem on the first Palm Sunday.

Monica Barner, director of Christian Education, said legend has it that the donkey who carried Jesus into Jerusalem stayed with him until his death. The shadow of the cross, which appears across the donkey's back (photo No. 2), symbolizes Jesus' final days leading to his crucifixion.

On Easter Sunday, First Presbyterian will offer an ecumenical sunrise Easter service at Old Fort Niagara at 6:30 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Charles Lamb will preside. Following service, breakfast will be served at the church for a nominal charge. Additional Easter celebration services are at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m.
