The Rev. Dr. Charles Lamb has announced he will teach a six-week course in "Understanding the Bible," beginning on Tuesday, April 10, at the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, Main and Church streets in the village.

Lamb reports the basic Bible course is offered free of charge to those who wish to become acquainted with the Bible, from the Old Testament into the New Testament.

"The course should be especially helpful to those who want to learn how to understand the Bible and to find their way around in it," he says.

He notes it is not a course to promote certain doctrines or to enlist people to any particular church; rather, it is simply an introductory course to Biblical literacy. Lamb adds it is important to register before April 5 by phoning 745-7067. Classes will meet in the church library from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each Tuesday

Lamb served as regional minister for the eight-state Northeastern Region of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ for 23 years before retirement, and since then has served as assistant to the pastor of the Youngstown Presbyterian Church. He also taught for seven years as an adjunct professor in the religion department of Niagara University.

Lamb holds a doctor of ministry degree from New York Theological Seminary.
