Christina Ostwald, RN, BSN, director of infection prevention and control at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, was elected to the position of president-elect of the Buffalo Chapter of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control & Epidemiology. The local chapter serves members from all over Western New York, and is part of an international organization of 14,000 professionals who work to prevent infections and epidemiology issues in hospitals and health care institutions.
APIC's mission is to improve patient health and health care worker safety by reducing risks of infection. APIC advances its mission through education, research, consultation, collaboration, public policy, practice guidance and credentialing.
