Members of the Jack Beatty Hospice Memorial Regatta and the Hospice Dash committees presented Niagara Hospice with $35,000 in proceeds from their Niagara River Boat Cruise and Clambake, which took place in July at the Youngstown Yacht Club, and the half-marathon and 5K run/walk that stretched through Lewiston, Youngstown and Porter on the Lake Park in September.

Raising a total of $250,000, this milestone marks the 12th year of success for the Jack Beatty Hospice Memorial Regatta. The event has become well known throughout Niagara County and continues to grow with guests and supporters every year. The Youngstown Yacht Club is an ideal setting for the riverboat cruise and clambake. It is open to the public and is known to be one of the best parties of the summer.

The third annual Hospice Dash more than doubled its proceeds from the previous two years. With the addition of the half-marathon course, participants in the 13.1-mile run followed a scenic route through the Niagara River Region. With bands along the racecourse, finisher medals and Nike T-shirts for each registered runner, and a finish line party featuring Strictly Hip, all had a wonderful time.

All proceeds from these events go to support the programs and services of Niagara Hospice.

"We are forever grateful for the continuous dedication of the Beatty family. Year after year they put on such phenomenal events for Niagara Hospice," said Niagara Hospice President and CEO John Lomeo.

Hospice is specialized care for the terminally ill - providing comfort, care and dignity when it's needed most. Since 1988, Niagara Hospice has served more than 15,000 Niagara County residents and their families. To learn more about Hospice, visit www.NiagaraHospice.org or call 439-4417.
