Lockport dancers to appear with Moscow Ballet

Several Lockport area youth have been selected to perform alongside the Russian professionals in Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker at the Palace Theater in Lockport on Monday, Dec. 5, and Tuesday, Dec. 6. Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Dyan Mulvey Dance Academy of Lockport is the host studio for Moscow Ballet's Student Program, with a Moscow Ballet Russian master dance instructor and soloist serving as the audition and rehearsal director.

Selected youth dancers include: Party Guests are Brianna Gelnett, Madison Long, Mikaela Ventura, Alyssa Edbauer, Hayley Hodge, Jessie Miller, Braylyn Bigelow and Sara Granchelli. Mice are Jordanne Miller, Chaelyn Balcerzak, Chelby Balcerzak, Kayla Anderson, Cassandra Wheeler, Rachel Serianni, Jordyn Veihdeffer and Allison Hardie. Snowflakes are Kennedy Doran, Lauren McKay, Olivia McKay, Marley Helferty, Hadley Douglas, Megan Krulisky, Kelsey Doty and Elianna Benedict. Angels are Hannah Anderson, Emily Neidrauer, Lauren Seymour, Erin Harrington, Molly Secord, Diega Ciraolo, Madeline Goerss and Brooke Jaekle.

Dancers in Act II's variations include: Spanish - Jillian Luckman and Mason Bowes; Russian - Chaelyn Balcerzak and Chelby Balcerzak; Arabian - Kennedy Doran and Marley Helferty; and French - Hadley Douglas and Megan Krulisky.

Dyan Mulvey Dance Academy combines the excitement of dance, the power of music and the feeling of self-confidence for students in classes that include ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, acro, and cheer dance.

Moscow Ballet has worked with dance studio owners in 70 cities across the country for almost two generations making a significant impact on aspiring dancers' lives. Casting an average of 50 children in 50 cities over the past 19 years yields 50,000 impressions and valuable interactions for new generations of North American dancers. Moscow Ballet underwrites the student performance program. It includes administration of the traveling soloists, transportation to and from Russia and in the U.S. and Canada, soloists' salary for audition and rehearsal work as well as some daily living expenses when not provided by a local host family.
