At 4 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 22, members of the Lewiston Council on the Arts and the Tuscarora Health and Community Center will unveil four paintings by Erwin Printup Jr. at the newly built Tuscarora Nation House. The unveiling will occur in conjunction with the Tuscarora Nation Community Fair.

Printup created the paintings during a weekend-long artist residency at Olde Sanborn Days, funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The paintings, titled "Sky Woman," "Three Sisters," "Unity" and "People of the Shirt," will be sited in the center's main entrance hall. "We are very grateful for the NEA funding that provided this opportunity for an outstanding local artist like Erwin to create new works that will enhance this magnificent building," said Irene Rykaszewski, LCA executive director.

Printup is a Cayuga/Tuscarora native who resides on the Tuscarora Reservation. His distinctive illustrations have appeared in several books. The Tuscarora Community Center is located at 5226 Walmore Road, Lewiston. All are welcome to attend.

"Lewiston Council on the Arts has always been a great supporter of our Tuscarora artists, and we deeply appreciate their support of our new community center's mission to include as many of our Tuscarora people's artistic endeavors as possible," said Bryan Printup.
