Stephen Giroux, owner of the Summit Park Pharmacy at Wheatfield and the Middleport Family Health Center, has won a Next Generation Pharmacy Award for 2011.

The awards were recently presented at the Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston.

Giroux was named "Next-Generation Pharmacist of the Year" in the Lifetime Achievement category.

This was the second year for these prestigious awards, which were created by Parata Systems and Pharmacy Times to honor those professionals who are helping to define the future vision of pharmacy.

Giroux, along with other 2011 winners, are profiled on the Pharmacy Times website at www.PharmacyTimes.com.

His daughter, Rachel Giroux, is also a pharmacist. A 2010 graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy, Rachel holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and works in a number of the family businesses, including the Middleport Family Health Center.
