A Gust of Sun Winery & Vineyard, located at 4515 Bear Road, Ransomville, will host a grand opening celebration today, Saturday, Sept. 17, from noon to 6 p.m.

Visitors will enjoy live music by local musicians, art by local artists, outdoor games, food catered by local businesses, discounts on all purchases, and seven tastings per person (with event tickets $5 presale, $8 at the door). An official ribbon cutting will take place at 2 p.m. A raffle also will take place, with the grand prizewinner receiving a six-pack variety of A Gust of Sun wines.

Family owned and operated by Erik and Shane Gustafson, the winery currently sources its grapes from vineyards in Niagara County and the Finger Lakes Region. Current wine offerings include: chardonnay; dry and semi-dry riesling; dry and semi-dry Niagara; and a dry blend of whites called "Three Westies White," named after the couple's three Westland Highland White Terriers.

The winery also offers a blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc called Trismegistus, named after an ancient Egyptian alchemist, and described as thrice great.

The owners expect to produce grapes on their property by 2013.
