The abandoned gas station next to DeGlopper Park is undergoing demolition.
Grand Island Town Supervisor Peter McMahon reported that the demolition permit for the old Mobil gas station near the intersection of Grand Island Boulevard and Baseline Road was approved Tuesday morning by the town's code enforcement officer, Doug Learman. Demolition work commenced later in the day.
According to the town's building department, the contractor, Monroe Mechanical Services, paid a $50 fee. The property is owned by JTNY, LLC.
