State Police Motorcycle Trooper Arthur Pittman was northbound in the passing lane on I-190 in the Town of Lewiston at about 5:55 p.m. July 26, when the operator of a 2006 Mazda entered the trooper's lane and sideswiped him.

Pittman regained control of his motorcycle and initiated a traffic stop. The 27-year-old driver, identified as Christopher R. Schultz of Buffalo, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, unsafe lane change, and failing to signal a lane change.

A 27-year-old passenger in the vehicle, Justin P. Fleishman also of Buffalo, was arrested when he was found in possession of marijuana. Fleishman was subsequently charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Both subjects are to appear in the Town of Lewiston Town Court on Aug. 9.

Pittman was uninjured and returned to duty after this incident.
