"Busy" and "entertaining," are two words that describe a summer living in Niagara County. From our local "Tuesday in the Park" to floating down the river, there is just so much to do in such a short amount of time. But this summer, something fresh, new and different is coming to the Village of Lewiston - an event that will promise anyone (especially the ladies) a good time.

Each year, the Niagara County peach queen holds her own fundraiser to support a local charity or foundation of her choice. Since I am the reigning Peach Queen, I chose to benefit a foundation that is close to my heart, The Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo. This year, I wanted to hold a fundraiser, which to my knowledge, no one in Lewiston has ever pulled off before. On Sunday, July 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Tin Pan Alley in historic Lewiston, the Peach Queen committee will hold a basket auction as well as (are you ready, ladies?) a "Bachelor Auction."

Bachelors will range in ages from 18 to in their mid 60s, so there will be a man for every woman who is willing to bid. In order to bid, the ladies must be 18 or older. If you are not old enough or prefer to watch the bidding wars take place, this year's basket auction is something you definitely want to take part in.

When it comes to bidding on your favorite bachelor, remember this event is not a substitute for eHarmony; it's all for fun and for a great cause. Each bachelor will be accompanied with an activity, such as a ride on the Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours or dinner at one of our local restaurants, so there will be no such thing as a boring date.

That Sunday, most of the bachelors will be decked out in donated attire from Tuxedo Junction, so all of the men will be dressed to a "T." Speaking of tee's, the activity accompanied with two of the bachelors is a day of golfing. So the highest bidders won't only be promised a date with a great guy, but a fun activity as well.

Promised with the purchase of each ticket is a light lunch. There will also be a cash bar at the fundraiser. So if any of this sounds interesting to you, pick up the phone and call 297-5499 for tickets or donations.

Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door. Remember, all the money raised at this event is going to support research at Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo, so grab some friends and come to have a good time on Sunday, July 10, at Tin Pan Alley in Lewiston. This is an event that you will not want to miss.
