Mother Nature finally shined on the Big R on Friday night, June 3, after providing nothing but sunshine all day. The end result was a huge crowd on hand to witness double features for the Mighty Taco Modifieds and Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers along with a full card of Original Pizza Logs Sportsman and Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstocks.

Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ontario took top honors last Friday night aboard the rained out Mighty Taco Modified feature from May 13. Piloting his Lucas Oil-sponsored No. 42, Bicknell took the lead away from Chad Brachmann with approximately 10 laps remaining and quickly pulled away. Bicknell took the win by three car lengths over Scott Kerwin who made a late race charge to the runner up position. Brachmann held on for third followed by Jeff McGinnis and Mat Williamson.

Rich Vinson of Sanborn led from green to checker aboard the second Mighty Taco Modified 30-lap feature main. Vinson found himself on the front row for the feature start and quickly established himself as the man to beat. Vinson pulled ahead to a full straightaway lead by lap 15 and continued to put distance between himself and rookie Ryan Susice.

The battle on the track was for second as Susice, Todd Gordon, James Michael Friesen, Brachmann and Bicknell put on a great show for the fans. At the checkered it was Vinson in for the win. Gordon was able to hold off Bicknell for second followed by Brachmann and Susice.

Greg Martin of Youngstown captured the win aboard the 25-lap Original Pizza Logs Sportsman main. Martin took the lead at the drop of the green and was never seriously challenged after that point. With about five laps to go, it looked as though Martin might suffer mechanical woes as his rear brakes were glowing bright orange. Much to his delight, the car stayed together and he collected the big win. Jesse Cotriss came home second followed by Mark Chiddy, Don Spatorico and Jipp Ortiz.

Jake Stefanski advanced from the 12th starting position to claim the win aboard the 15-lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock main. Stefanski took the lead away from Andy Smith with a handful of laps remaining and then held off very persistent challenges from Jaren Israel in the final two laps. Stefanski collected the very popular win followed by Smith, Charles Harvey, Israel and Chris Burek. Israel had been penalized two positions for jumping the start on the final restart.

Marika Morris of Niagara Falls took top honors last Friday night aboard the rained out feature from May 13. Morris took the lead away from Mike Hossfeld early on, only to lose it to Dave Sheen with two to go. Sheen looked to be on his way to victory but slipped high in turn one on the final circuit resulting in contact with the retaining wall. Morris slipped by and collected the very popular win. Ryan Plante, Don Moulden, Mike Pahl, and Gordon Gau rounded out the top five.

Pit Notes

Just added, the Investor's Services Triple 50s, Wednesday, June 22, and the Battle at the Border, Friday, July 1, featuring a $5,000 to win Mod 75.

Gordon Gau of Wilson captured the win aboard the second 12-lap Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers main. Gau took control at the drop of the green and never looked back. Gau took the win by a large margin over second place finisher Don Moulden. Morris came home in the third position followed by Mike Pahl and Jamie Woods.
