Scott Krull has been a top Ransomville Speedway Streetstock competitor for the past five seasons. The Cambria resident is now ready to take his program up a notch.

Krull will drive the 2011 season for car owner Jim Zimmerman in the Ransomville Speedway Sportsman class. The highly competitive division averages a full field each week, and Krull knows that he will have to work hard to keep up with his success rate.

"I really wanted to run competitively," said Krull, who has five Streetstock wins to his credit. "I really want to run in the top 10 in points. It's a tough division at Ransomville Speedway and I just want to come out and do well."

Krull finished sixth in points in 2010. His best year was in 2008, when he took home a third place finish in points.

Krull actually didn't know if he was going to be racing in 2011. He had sold his Streetstock just before the 2010 King of the Hill event. Since then, he had sold all of his equipment. At the time, he had a baby on the way and the costs of racing were going to have to go in another direction. His baby girl's name is Natalie.

Just after the 2010 season, Krull was approached by Zimmerman, who hadn't driven in the Sportsman division since 2007, due to a road accident. It was only a couple of weeks ago when Krull finalized the deal with his wife Nadine and a couple of sponsors. The car, which has sat in the garage since 2007, is a Bicknell chassis.

Krull started his racing career in four-wheelers and Motocross in 2002. He went into Micro-Sprints in 2003 and stayed there until 2006 when he got a chance to compete in Ransomville Speedway's Streetstock class, driving for car owner Jerry Martin.

"The Streetstock was a learning experience and was a lot of fun. I feel that it's one of the best Streetstock classes in dirt."

Krull is 37 years old and is employed at Nuttall Gear in Niagara Falls.

The race team will be sponsored by The Corner Store in Cambria, Freedom Run Winery, also in Cambria, and KG Enterprises in Wheatfield.

Krull comes from a big racing background. His cousin Robbie is a 358 Modified competitor at Ransomville Speedway while his brother Billy has also seen plenty of racing action in the past at Ransomville.

Good luck goes out to Scott Krull and Jim Zimmerman for the 2011 Ransomville Speedway season.
