The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency announced this week it has accepted applications for assistance from Hamilton, Ontario-based HT Production for a proposed corrugated box manufacturing facility in Lewiston, Wheatfield Family Density for the construction for a new dental office, as well as the construction of a new medical practice building in the Town of Newfane. The projects total more than $2 million in investment in Niagara County and the creation of 20 full time jobs and nine part-time positions.

"Our investments in marketing and promoting Niagara County in Southern Ontario are continuing to pay dividends for our region and we are encouraged that there continues to be a strong interest by Canadian companies in doing business here," said Henry M. Sloma, chairman, Niagara County Industrial Development Agency.  "At the same time, we are seeing an expansion in investment by the medical professionals to not only enhance their facilities but more importantly the care being provided to the residents in our region through these enhancements particularly in the state of the art equipment being purchased."

He reports HT Productions Inc. plans to purchase a 50,000 square-foot building on Ridge Road in the Town of Lewiston and renovate it.  HT Productions is a manufacturing company that focuses on corrugated paper products, which it supplies to the industrial sector.  The total investment is approximately $910,000 and includes the purchase of the land and building, renovations and new construction, machinery, equipment and fees associated with the architecture and engineering.  The new facility will create 10 full-time and four part-time jobs within the first two-years of operation.  The company applied for a 15-year industrial PILOT, sales tax exemptions and mortgage recording tax exemptions.  The building is currently vacant.

Wheatfield Family Dentistry has been serving Niagara County for 17 years and has outgrown its current leased space.  The practice is proposing to build a new state-of-the-art facility that will be comprised of a 2,500 square foot of dental office space and 1,500 square foot of class-A office space on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Wheatfield.  The dental office will be equipped with the latest technologically advanced equipment, which will provide Niagara County residents with services that are not currently being offered in the region.

The cost of the project is approximately $690,500 and includes the acquisition of land, new construction, architectural/ engineering services and dental equipment. The new office will retain its five full-time and three part-time employees and will create eight full-time, five part-time and three seasonal jobs within the first two years.  Wheatfield Family Dentistry applied for a 10 year commercial PILOT.

In Newfane, Fredrick Piwko, M.D., has applied for a 10-year commercial PILOT, sales tax exemptions and mortgage recording tax exemption for plans to construct a new 2,600 square foot medical office building on Lockport-Olcott Road in the town. The total investment of this project is approximately $462,000 and will create two new jobs and retain its current four full-time and two part-time employees.

The announcements come off the Niagara County IDA approving of Edwards Vacuum's request to extend the company's lease for occupancy in its current facility on Niagara Falls Boulevard while construction is completed on its new manufacturing and warehouse facility.  Edwards plans to consolidate its North American operations in a new 55,000 square-foot building in the Town of Wheatfield creating up to 25 new jobs, while retaining 100 jobs.  The total investment of the project is estimated at $6.9 million.
