This daylong conference will feature entertaining speakers, a luncheon, the videotaping of a live cooking show, informational displays and a wide array of health information. Registration is just $15 for the entire conference. Advance registration is encouraged.
The day will open at 8 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. At 9 a.m. the conference will begin with remarks by Mount St. Mary's President and CEO Judith Maness; special guest Patricia Stewart, a member of the board of directors of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Western New York; and Mount St. Mary's chief of radiology, Dr. Peter Ferin.
Mount St. Mary's is completing work on investing more than $1 million to create a Breast Care Center at the hospital, thanks to the leadership of the Mount St. Mary's Foundation, which raised the funds for the initiative.
The keynote speaker will follow the remarks. Lora Allen will provide a message to encourage individuals to take steps for a more meaningful life in a humorous way.
At 10:15 a.m., there will be a series of informational displays including:
At 11 a.m., there will be information sessions and demonstrations including:
Session A) Osteoporosis with Dr. Jennifer Adamson;
Session B) Breast Care Center with Dr. Peter Ferin (chief radiologist) and Jeanine Ferguson (manager, diagnostic imaging);
Session C) Diabetes with Dr. Nadeem Aslam, endocrinologist; Dr. Jude Violante, podiatrist; and Debra Hoffman, certified diabetes educator;
Session D) Infectious disease with Dr. Thomas Cumbo, Mount St. Mary's medical director of infection control;
Session E) Cardiac health and cardiac care with Dr. Benjamin Rueda;
Session F) Spiritual health with the Rev. Lora Allen;
Session G) Women's health and pain management with Destin Radder, L.Ac and Andrea Rosati, NP; and
Session H) Stress reduction with Christella Gress, Ph.D., Niagara Hospice.
A cooking demonstration and videotaping of a "Lori & Friends" television show will take place during the luncheon at noon by Lori Caso and chef Eli Hoffman of The Conference Center, along with Breast Care and Early Detection Information provided by the Komen Foundation of WNY.
At 1:15 p.m., the information sessions and informational displays will be repeated.
The conference will adjourn at 2:30 p.m.
