A retirement party for Lee Wallace,
former athletic director at Niagara County Community College, will be
held Friday, Oct. 8, at Antonio's Restaurant, 7708 Niagara Falls
Blvd., Niagara Falls. Wallace stepped down as the athletic director
at NCCC at the end of August, after serving in that capacity at the
college since 1998. Wallace has been credited for turning around that
institution's athletic programs with upgrades to the basketball and
baseball programs as well as the addition of men's and women's
lacrosse and the return of the bowling program. Wallace was also
instrumental in the creation of the new Thunder Wolves logo and
moniker as head of that committee.
Prior to Wallace's stint at NCCC,
he worked for the Niagara-Wheatfield School District in various
administrative positions and owns that school's record for career
wins in girls' softball and basketball. Wallace also served as a
member of N-W's football coaching staff through the 1980s and
1990s.
Tickets are $25 in advance and must
be purchased by Sept. 30. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. and
there will be live music and an open bar after the formal program.
