Sheffield to ensure support of institutional excellence and distinction

Niagara University has announced that Christopher Sheffield has been promoted to the position of university planner, a role that will make him responsible for ensuring the support of -- and continuous progress toward -- institutional excellence and distinction. Prior to assuming the position in June, Sheffield had spent the previous nine years as Niagara's assistant dean of student affairs.

"The NU community, which I call family, has played such a critical role in my personal and professional formation that I am both obligated and honored to continue nurturing Niagara's special commitment to its students and the community," commented Sheffield, who has earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Niagara University. "It is with renewed enthusiasm and pride for Niagara that I begin as university planner."

While Sheffield's new job will preclude him from having as much time to work directly with students as he has in the past, his previous co-curricular experiences will serve him well as he guides Niagara through the implementation of the strategic planning process, the ongoing assessment of university and departmental goals and the fulfillment of the Middle States accreditation procedure.
