School tax rates approved

The Niagara-Wheatfield Board of Education approved the 2010-11 school tax rate at its meeting last week.

School tax bills will be mailed out on Sept. 1 this year.

Town of Niagara, where state equalization rates stayed the same, was the only town to see a tax reduction. Others showed modest increases from the 2009-10 rates.

The rates per $1,000 assessed value:

  • Town of Niagara homestead - $25.66, down 24 cents.
  • Town of Niagara non-homestead - $34.49, down 40 cents.
  • Wheatfield homestead - $21.70, up 16 cents.
  • Wheatfield non-homestead - $29.84, up 8 cents.
  • Lewiston homestead - $18.79, up 49 cents.
  • Lewiston non-homestead - $25.47, up 63 cents.
  • Cambria homestead - $15.50, up 28 cents.
  • Cambria non-homestead - $21.05, up 18 cents.
