Free Henry! opening for The Guess Who on Tuesday at Artpark Lewiston Porter Sentinel, July 3, 2009
The rock band Free Henry!, recognized as one of the Buffalo-Niagara Region’s top musical acts, will open for national recording artist The Guess Who on Tuesday, July 7, as part of the “Tuesday in the Park” concert series at Artpark. The free show begins at 6:30 p.m. “We feel very honored to be performing at the esteemed ‘Tuesday in the Park’ outdoor concert series at Artpark,” said lead singer and songwriter Bob Buckley. “We have dreamed of this day for a long time, and the timing really couldn’t be any better.” The band kicked off its live summer show schedule recently at Rochester’s 2009 Lilac Festival, and opened for Better Than Ezra at “Thursday at the Square” in Buffalo. “Jazz, rock, alternative … Free Henry! touches upon all of these genres and then escapes to blaze a musical trail that is uniquely their own,” said Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster. The band headlined the recent Niagara Homecoming celebration of the Cataract City on June 28 at the Positively Main Street Festival. “Free Henry! and Artpark were meant for one another … a beautiful, natural venue blended with creative home-grown music that deserves – and is sure to gain – an ever wider listening audience.” Free Henry! will showcase its material alongside Badfinger at the North Tonawanda Gateway Concert Series on July 11. In addition to Buckley, Free Henry! features Derek Presti of Youngstown on bass, percussionist Pat Mannella, and lead guitarist Alex Foote of Youngstown. |
