Paint the Town Purple

Supporters of the Grand Island Relay For Life began decorating the Marion Klingel Town Commons Saturday leading up to the Paint the Town Purple Day on May 1. The event is a day when communities nationwide are asked to show their hope and support for Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society by hanging a purple ribbon on houses or cars, wearing purple, or purchasing a purple ribbon and bell, all in an effort to paint the town purple. Planned also is a dance party at"Club Hope" at the Grand Island Moose Family Center, 2524 Grand Island Blvd., starting at 6 p.m. on May 1. Admission is free. There will be a purple themed basket auction, 50/50s split contests, music, food and more. All are welcome (age 21 and over only after 9 p.m.).
