St. Matthew II wins women’s title

Julie Murray scored 15 points to lead St. Matthew II to victory over St. Mary’s, 41-38, in the championship game of the Lutheran Basketball Association Women’s League.

Jennifer Ratka added 12 points in the title game for the winners from St. Matthew II.

Martha Amoretti led St. Mary’s with 14 points, followed by Patrina Leo with 10.

In the third-fourth place game, Community Bible beat St. Mark 43-23. Samantha Hutchins and Angela Churchill scored 14 points each for Community Bible in the win.

St. Mark’s Liz Waston led all scorers with 19 points in defeat.

In the consolation game between Holy Ghost/St. James and St. Matthew I, Janelle Mahl of Holy Ghost/St. James scored 13 points to lead her team to a 40-37 victory.

Janet Finley and Shawn Stransbaugh had 11 points in the loss for St. Matthew I.
