Lewiston-Porter to avail live videoconferencing with troops in Iraq

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, April 5, 2008

Do you have a close family member who is stationed in Iraq? If so, you may be able to see and talk with them by way of a live videoconference from the Lewiston-Porter campus.

The Lewiston-Porter School District reports these videoconferences are now available to local residents, thanks to an arrangement between the school district and the non-profit organization, The Freedom Calls Foundation. At this time, videoconferences can be scheduled between local families and their loved ones stationed at Camp Taji, Camp Fallujah, Camp Taqaddum (also called Camp TQ,) Al Asad Airbase or Camp Victory in Iraq. They are being offered at no cost to families or to the school district, and will be scheduled outside of school hours. Several Lew-Port teachers are volunteering their time to schedule the videoconferences and meet and escort families to their “virtual” reunions.
