Lewiston Police recognize contributors

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, April 26, 2008

This past Monday, the Lewiston Police Department recognized the efforts of its own, as well as those from the Lewiston governmental and business community who have helped make an impact on its law enforcement operations over the past year. Those recognized ranged from LPD Justice Clerk Lisa Rizzo, on her securing more than $100,000 in grant funding for department operations, to community members Brad Hardison of Hardison Funeral Homes and Ron Parent of the Lewiston Kiwanis Club, whose financial contributions have benefited LPD in the form of new dress uniforms for its officers and assistance to LPD DARE education programs. Others cited included Officer Mike Schuey on his completion of a community police vehicle enforcement program and Officer Scott Stafford for his work in the training of LPD’s newest member – Radar of its K-9 unit, now certified by the New York state Department of Criminal Justice Services. “There is no way we can express our gratitude to the community,” commented LPD Sgt. Frank Previte on the many forms of assistance received. “These are the kind of things that make us a more well-rounded department – to do our job better, to enforce the law better.” Also recognized was the integral investigative work of LPD officers Tony Nicoletti, Lauren Passanese, Stafford and others that led to an extensive cocaine bust in the village. “You couldn’t find a better class of officers,” said Previte, praising LPD as a highly trained department and extending his appreciation to the community for its support.
