10-mile Garage and Sidewalk Sale set for June 7-8

Lewiston Porter Sentinel, April 19, 2008

Niagara Frontier Publications will once again serve as host of the two-day treasure hunt known as the 10 Mile Garage and Sidewalk Sale in the towns of Lewiston and Porter. Now in its 16th year, it will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, in neighborhoods in the lower Niagara River area.

This event draws bargain hunters from as far away as Toronto and Rochester and has been a favorite for residents for nearly two decades. The format will be the same as in previous years. Everyone is invited to join in, including households and retailers in the four business communities of Lewiston, Youngstown, Ransomville and Sanborn. The cost for participants is $16.50, and applications will be available starting on Thursday, April 24.

Each registered participant will be identified on a regional map that will be featured on special center section pull-out in the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel, Niagara-Wheatfield Tribune, and Grand Island PennySaver the week of May 31-June 5. Additional copies of the pullout sections will be available at key locations in the area, and the event will be publicized throughout Western New York and Southern Ontario.

All participating households will receive a Garage Sale Kit, which contains two fluorescent colored garage sale signs, self-sticking price tags, a sale check list, and tips to make the sale a success.

There will be special areas in the pullout section for realtors, restaurant owners and retail merchants to showcase the best they have to offer, so plan ahead to place your ad in the sale location map and participate in the fun. Contact Niagara Frontier Publications at 773-7676 or e-mail to sales.nfp@wnypapers.com. Advertising deadline is May 16.

Starting Thursday, 10 Mile Garage and Sidewalk Sale applications will be available at the following participating sponsor locations: Lewiston – Village Bake Shoppe, 417 Center St.; Ransomville – St. Peter Lutheran Church and School – North Ridge, 4169 Church Road, Town of Cambria; Sanborn – Smokin Joe’s, 2293 Saunders Settlement Road, Route 31; Youngstown – The Dory, 435 Main St., and the Youngstown Village Diner, 425 Main St.

Applications may also be picked up at Niagara Frontier Publications, 1859 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island, or downloaded from www.wnypapers.com. Application deadline is Monday, May 12, and participation will be limited to the first 120 applicants.

Be sure to submit your application early and be a part of one of the area’s busiest events of the season.
